Sonic the Hedgehog and the video game platform which kicked off not only Sonic's popular game series for Sega Mega Drive, but also and above all to an authentic cult phenomenon. A character, that of Sonic the Hedgehog, surpassed in popularity perhaps only by Mario, Nintendo's mustachioed plumber.
Il gameplay by Sonic the Hedgehog is primarily based on the speed, definitely higher than all the other video games on the market at the time. This speed was made possible by the Motorola 68000 processor that “moved” the 16-bit console from SEGA. However, Sonic the Hedgehog was also released for Sega Game Gear. Everyone or almost everyone knows the story, but for the few unbelievers who have not yet tried the game, it is worth remembering.
It begins on the planet Mobius in South Island, where the evil Doctor Eggman is intent on replacing nature with machines. He therefore imprisons the animals of the island, marking the areas of the place (in total there are 7). Sonic traverses these areas at insane speed, marking the territory, eliminating enemies and collecting golden rings and various bonuses, which are used to give him new lives. If Sonic collects all 6 Chaos Emeralds present in the stages, the flora will return to flourish.
Precisely these golden rings are crucial to finish the game and continue through the various levels. After getting 20, Sonic can jump higher for a few seconds, which is a great help. Also, if you have at least one ring and are touched by an enemy, you don't lose a life.

For extra points, clear each zone within a certain time limit. If you clear each zone in less than 30 seconds, you will get 50.000 points.
At the title screen, hold A and press UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT. You will hear a sound, then press START.
In the Green Hill Zone - Act 3, there is a 1UP at the end of the level. Collect it along with enough rings to get to 100 and get an extra second life. Once this is done, pick up the 1UP at the top of the circle of death and let it die. Repeat this until you have enough lives.
