There are several ways to entertain yourself in Yakuza 6 . Not just bare-knuckle fighting and road cones or cinematic missions, Yakuza 6 it's littered with mini-games that allow the player to relax before shooting the main story and earn some money.
You can play darts, sing karaoke or even play video games in an arcade. All these mini-games are quite light compared to those that become available once you get to Onomichi - Scuba Fishing, Clan Creator and Baseball. These are the main distractions you'll be dealing with at Onomichi and they'll also allow you to make extra money. At the beginning of each one there will be a complete tutorial, but if it is not completely clear, we have here a guide that will try to make your life easier.
Yakuza 6 : Guide to mini-games
1. Underwater Fishing: General Tips
Scuba fishing is the easiest of the three main mini-games in Yakuza 6 . It's also the best way to earn money in the game. It's a minigame with basic mechanics - in fact, it's basically a track shooter. All you have to do is shoot the fish (and various other underwater targets). Each species of fish will earn you a certain number of points. Eventually, those points turn into money.
Here are some tips to help you maximize your earnings:
Always look for the coffers
These will be on the bottom of the sea and will give a big boost to the score and, consequently, to the money earned.
Reloading by pressing the circle button may seem like a nuisance, but it is actually the key to more results in underwater fishing. If you keep pressing the fire button, you'll automatically reload, but the process will take longer and you'll waste valuable time. Listen to the sound that the clip is empty and reload manually.
In general, the stronger fish make more money
Stronger fish like sharks or bosses in each area (yes, there are those too) - or anything that requires multiple shots to kill - should be your priority every time they appear on screen. Don't ignore the weak fish, but if you can catch something bigger and bad it's much better.
2. Clan Creator: general advice
Mechagodzilla will encounter a team of (corrupt) vigilantes in Kamurocho, but won't be able to take part in their battle until they're in Onomichi. Mechagodzilla won't fight directly, though. Instead, it will run its own clan of fighters. Clan Creator is a minigame that will allow you to create your own gang.
You'll start with some clan members, but you'll have to add more. You'll meet people on the street who want to fight. These are not gangs that you constantly meet and fight against in the game, but they are people you can talk to. Once defeated, they will join your clan.
When you are ready to make your clan fight, you must visit the M Side Cafe in Kamurocho or the La Pente restaurant in Onomichi. Talk to your clan there to start the minigame. You'll have some options when you start.
This is the beating heart of the minigame. The minigame takes place like a tower defense. You have a deployment indicator that fills up when you defeat enemies. Each of your soldiers - both general soldiers and your appointed leaders - has a cost that will empty your marker. Commanders are much more expensive than soldiers, but they have special abilities that you can activate during combat. Your goal is basically just to wipe out your enemies before time runs out.
This is where you set the hierarchy of your clan. Higher-level subordinates allow you to have more influence over a clan. Some members of your clan work well when they are together and get a boost when they are close to each other in the hierarchy. Also, this is where you can organize your strike team. These are the leaders you will have at your disposal during a battle.
The various clan members will gain experience during the fights, but you can use Kiryu EXP points to level up your clan members.
This option allows you to let your clan fight against those of other players in online mode. You can attack the defenses of another clan, create the defense force to take on other bands, participate in daily events, climb the top ten clans and fight against your friends.
3. Baseball: general advice
During the adventures in Onomichi's main storyline, you will meet a baseball team called Warriors. Later, they will ask Kiryu to become their team manager, which will unlock another mini-game. Once you become the team manager, you can take a taxi from anywhere on Onomichi to the baseball field. When you get there, the minigame will start.
You can recruit players for your team from Onomichi (but not in the minigame itself). You'll find potential players in the bar in town and some others around the streets. They will ask you to deliver some things they need - alcohol, muscle building supplements or some tasty (?) food to eat - once satisfied, they will join your team.
Training and leveling
There are two ways to level up your players. The easiest is to let the player you want to level up play some matches. The other is by spending a training ticket. You will earn these supplies by winning matches.
In this minigame, Kiryu won't play baseball but will be called to control the batter during certain moments of the match (if you ever want to train to hit the ball yourself, head to Kamurocho training center).
Mostly, you are responsible for the roster. When you look at each player on your team, you will see their position, stats and level. Some players will also have a special skill. Your job is just to interchange and match these players to ensure victory for the team. Keep an eye on those special skills as well. They can make a weak player really useful under certain conditions.
