Guide Monster Hunter: World - Mantles and Boosters


The cloaks and flares are a fantastic novelty of this Monster Hunter: World .
These are equipable objects that provide several temporary buff once worn in the case of cloaks or planted in the ground in the case of flares.
Effects and durations vary depending on the individual equipment, and it is good for a hunter to always be prepared for every eventuality.


Attention! For the duration of the story, you will only be able to carry one cloak/ flare.
Once the story is complete you will unlock a second slot to allow you to adapt to the most difficult situations.
Next I will show you how to unlock them one by one and explain the advantages and ways to use them.

Ghillie Mantle

The Ghillie mantle allows the hunter to hide from the sight of the monsters and lose their aggro.
Useful for egg delivery missions, or to sneak up on monsters and rare animals to catch.

It vanishes at the first attack or when damage is done.

Achievement: Unlock and complete the task 3★: "Flying sparks: Tobi Kadachi".
Duration: 120 sec.
Recharge time: 300 sec.

Challenger Mantle

The Challenger Mantle allowing the hunter to attract the monster's attention and attract his aggro.
Useful to lure the monster into an area more suitable for combat or to make him fall into a trap (artificial or natural).


It vanishes as soon as you're attacked.

Achievement: Complete the optional mission 7★: "the Red and Blue".
Duration: 180 sec.

Glider Mantle

The glider cloak will allow you to glide after a jump, ride monsters more easily and take advantage of the air currents.
This cloak is especially good to get to the top of the den where the winged monsters go to sleep in the Coral Highlands.
This will prevent you from climbing for 10 minutes and the monster will come back to life in the meantime.
In addition, there are several air puffs similar-geyser that will make you fly in the air, giving you the opportunity to hit from above and ride the monster.

Vitality Mantle

The vitality cloak will protect you by absorbing for you an amount of damage defined according to your life.
However, this will not make you invulnerable to leaps and falls.
Very useful for particularly challenging hunts against very strong monsters, or when you risk being one-shot.

The effect will wear off once the amount of life is exceeded.
Achievement: Complete the task 6★: "A Colossal Enterprise".
Duration: 120 sec.
Charging time: 360 sec.


Bandit Mantle

The bandit mantle will cause monsters to drop rare drops.
This is really very useful if it's a matter of making a few zenny: in fact, the drops left by monsters are exchange objects, that is, objects that have the sole purpose of being exchanged for money.
Find a monster that moves little and that you have the possibility to attack continuously (in my opinion the Dodogama or the Gran Jagras are perfect) that hit will continuously drop these small residues.
Don't bother to pick them up right away: make the most of the coat's durability and then pick them up, they'll be in the field for a long time.
Then go back to the base, go to the checkout, select "Sell objects" and voilà here you are enriched with some zenny.
Achievement: Complete the optional 5★ mission: "A Cup Pair".
Duration: 180 sec.
Recharge time: 210 sec.

Apothecary Mantle

The chemical cloak has the function of enhancing every shot of your weapons that have altered status (Paralysis, Sleep, Poison, Burst).
This will allow to inflict more frequently alterations of state to the affected monsters.

Achievement: Complete the optional mission from 8★: "Bad omens".
To unlock it, you'll need to bring the search level to a maximum of at least 10 monsters and then talk to the Chief Biologist.
Duration: 60 sec.
Recharge time: 210 sec.


Immunity Mantle

The immunity mantle has the function of preventing any alteration of state inflicted on you during its duration.
Very useful against poisonous monsters and easy stun.

Achievement: Complete the optional 8★ mission: "a glow in the sand".
To unlock it, you'll need to bring the search level to a maximum of at least 15 monsters and then talk to the Chief Biologist.
Duration: 120 sec.
Recharge time: 360 sec.

Impact Mantle

The impact cloak will enhance all attacks by giving it the power to stun monsters.
It will also greatly enhance already stunned attacks.
A very strong cloak then, but by circumstantial use.

Achievement: Complete the optional mission from 9★:"Final clash: Mud abuse".
To unlock it you will need to hunt at least 5 hardened monsters threat level 1.
Duration: 90 sec.
Recharge time: 360 sec.

Rocksteady Mantle

The stability cloak is perhaps one of the most sought after and appreciated in the game.
It will protect you from screams, tremors from earthquakes, wind pressure and cancel the reaction to attacks.
It will also reduce the damage received from monster hits.
Precisely because of the fact that you will be immobile, pay close attention to your life bar: you are not invulnerable, life will continue to decline if hit.
Achievement: Complete the optional mission from 9★: "Terror from the Deep".
To unlock it you will need to hunt at least 5 hardened monsters threat level 3.
Duration: 90 sec.
Recharge time: 360 sec.

Evasion Mantle

This stylish mantle will increase the window where you are invulnerable during a dodge.
For each precise dodge of this type successful, it will slightly increase your attack (up to a maximum cap).
Useful for a 1:1 challenge between you and the hunted monster.
In general, however, a very useful cloak.

Achievement: Complete the optional mission from 9★: "Pink Rathian and Tempered Blue Rathalos".
To unlock it you will need to hunt at least 5 hardened monsters threat level 2.
Duration: 90 sec.
Recharge time: 300 sec.

Fireproof Mantle

This mantle reduces fire damage, and prevents damage inflicted by malus fire and burst.
It also prevents damage when you walk or get thrown over lava.
Useful for monsters who precisely inflict those types of malus, and who fight in magmatic areas.
(Theostra, Rathalos, Dodogama, Lavasioth)

Achievement: Complete the optional mission from 7★: "A fiery collaboration".
To unlock it you will have to hunt a Lavasioth, a Dodgama and a Uragaan at least once.
Duration: 180 sec.
Recharge time: 210 sec.

Thunderproof Mantle

The insulating shell reduces thunder damage and prevents malus thunder and paralysis.
Really useful in the fight against Kirin, which in this chapter is particularly aggressive.
In addition, by canceling the paralysis malus, you will avoid that unpleasant situation where you are stuck on the ground, and you can only watch as you are swept away by the oncoming attack.

Achievement: Complete the optional 5★ mission: "Gone in a flash".
To unlock it you will have to complete all the optional capture missions of the biologist.
Duration: 180 sec.
Recharge time: 210 sec.

Iceproof Mantle

The iceproof mantle will reduce ice damage and prevent malus ice.

Achievement: Complete the delivery of the Coordination Centre "R&D Armory: Isolation".
Duration: 180 sec.

Waterproof Mantle

The waterproof coat reduces water damage, eliminates water malus and facilitates movement in deep water.
Useful therefore to fight the Jyuratodus, who loves to wallow in water nimbly while you struggle with your 50kg of armor.

Achievement: Complete the delivery of the Coordination Centre "R&D Armory: waterproofing".
Duration: 180 sec.
Recharge time: 210 sec.

Temporal Mantle

The temporal mantle will nullify damage from monsters' most powerful attacks by automatically dodging them.
One of the strongest cloaks, but one that I personally advise against using in the long run: first of all because by dodging the system you won't train your reflexes, secondly because of its short duration and high cooldown.

Achievement: Complete the following series of missions:
1) Special charge 9★: "A blazing sun".
2) Special assignment 9★: "Pandora's arena".
3) Special assignment 9★: "No Remorse, No Regrets".
Duration: 90 sec.
Recharge time: 180 sec.

Health Booster

The healing Bengal, once planted in the ground, will gradually cure the life of all hunters in the circular area bounded by green smoke.
An extremely useful tool, in any hunting group it would be great to have one or two available.

Achievement: Complete the assignment from 4★ "Time to write history".
Duration: 60 sec.
Recharge time: 150 sec.

Affinity Booster

The affinity flare will increase your affinity (i.e. your probability of inflicting critical blows) by 50%.
The effect persists for up to 15 seconds after leaving the area bounded by red smoke.
Almost all hunters who use the bow make excellent use of this flare, placing themselves in a safe position and hitting the monster repeatedly.

Achievement: Once the campaign is over, complete the optional missions "A precise request" (6★), the delivery to the Coordination Centre "Toast like a master", the optional "Old-fashioned"(6★), the delivery "To spit flames", the optional "Undesirable encounters" (from 7★) and finally the mission "Eyeball battles" (from 7★).
Duration: 60 sec.
Recharge time: 150 sec.

Cleanser Booster

Finally, the cleansing flare will cure all alterations of state and remove all malus to those who are in its area of smoke.
Situational Bengal, but it can be very useful indeed.

Achievement: Complete the optional mission 4★ "On the wings of nightmares".
Duration: 60 sec.
Recharge time: 150 sec.

Infinite strategies

The introduction of these new objects in Monster Hunter: World has opened the hunt to different possibilities, focusing on realism.
Now you can prepare yourself even more carefully for specific hunts by studying the situation by the wire.
