Donkey Kong Country Returns, which is known only as Donkey Kong Returns in Japan, is a platforming video game released for Nintendo Wii. The game was developed by Retro Studios.
The game follows Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and is the first chapter to appear on the Nintendo Wii. Donkey Kong Country Returns is a classic 3D platformer with 2D perspective. The protagonists of the game are two of our old acquaintances, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, who have to save the island they live in from the Tiki Tak tribe, made up of bizarre creatures shaped like musical instruments. The Tiki Tak want to steal all the bananas, aided by other animals, so it's up to the two monkeys to retrieve the food they are so fond of.
As soon as Diddy notices the theft, he warns Donkey and sets off with him in pursuit of the caravan of animals and creatures, who are fleeing the jungle. Donkey chases the thieves on horseback, so to speak, of the rhino Rambi, his faithful companion and friend, who will help him wherever possible. Instead, Diddy, as usual, will stay hidden inside the barrels and help his powerful friend in times of need. The goal of the trio is to reach the volcano where the chief of the tribe, Tiki Tong, is located.
