Reviews and analysis of DEAD OR ALIVE 6: Core Fighters

Fighting Fun But Huge Hidden Costs
The DOA series has it's fighting charms like breaks, throw and holds, girls and guys and various fighting styles. It's also probably one of the easiest to learn basics and can allow a person to become fairly proficient at it if they put in the time. The disc is good for basics and the core of the action, but most of the longevity for this game is in the DLC.

Fantastic gameplay with not much content to offer and a below average story
As it says in the title the gameplay for the gameplay is close to perfection. With it being on par with Tekken in terms of it but nothing much else. Story can take about a full day to complete and nothing else should make you keep on going. The arcade mode is enjoyable but can get very repetitive very quickly. Online servers are pretty much a ghost town at this point so youll only be getting it for the single player content and graphics look like an early ps3 game. It hasnt improved much from the earlier instalment (doa ultimate) and felt like a game youll play for about 4 days never to return.

Always loved the Dead or Alive series. Just got this today and I love it! It sucks you have to pay close to $100 or more to get extra costumes, but the game still comes with a good selection of costumes. Story is the same as DoA 5 original. There's new characters that I like. Don't really like that they have three different variations of DoA 5. Should have been just a DoA 6 but still a good game. New costumes, new characters, same gameplay. I think tutorial is new, I have not seen that in the past. I would definitely recommend this for any die hard DoA fan.

Where to start?! The character roster is great as there are many fighters you can choose from and most importantly, WILL WANT to test out, so that you can perfect their assigned virtual fighting style and all their quirks such as how to execute their specific power blow move which is usually either backwards, diagonally up + pk or backwards, diagonally down + pk or just backwards + pk. The visuals have been re-rendered for this foray into next gen; you won't really notice much of a difference compared to Last Gen but on a sound flatscreen TV, you should notice better spacing and depth and better animations around the various fighting rings. Also, the fighting animations are MUCH improved where some characters such as Lisa, Hitomi and Ayane have all, without exception, benefitted from the improved mechanics.

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas, as he is a long time fan of the series. I had never played it before, but I've been practicing so we can fight fairly! I really enjoy the controls and all the different combos for each character. All the costumes keep things fun, as well. The only gripe about it I have is that the voice recordings for the characters that are not original to DOA are noticiably lower quality than those who are. Overall though I've really come to love this game!

Great game, but has issues
Great graphical update from last GEN. smooth fighting 60 frames per second is the great thing about this update. Install takes about 15 minutes it's about 10 GB. Unfortunately the game was released with a lot of bugs, Game crashes online and off-line mode's. Tecmo is aware of the crashing issue and is working on an update.

It is a fighting game full of fanservice, as one would expect from the Japanese and Dead or Alive. I ordered the game hoping that it would be the same feeling as the older Dead or Alive and I was not disappointed. The graphics are great, the fighting system is like i remember it, which is great. A fighting game in the collection is a must, and in my opinion Dead or Alive is that specific must.

Basic fighting game, just better looking characters
It's basically like any other fighting game like mortal combat except that instead of strange creatures fighting each other, you have good looking people fighting each other with the women wearing more suggestive outfits of which after that character receives so many points, it unlocks additional suggestive outfits. Simple game and kind of addictive.

Partially Recycled Dead or Alive Xtreme 2
Play Asia reports that so many people pre-ordered Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 that they could sell it for regular street value of 59.99, but does that mean you should put down the cash? Before I even begin, I'm not speaking for people that are already Xtreme DOAX players -- and will buy the game on day one just because it's the next entry in the series, or because they have a mega crush on one of the girls. I'm attempting to educate people that are just not sure if they want it, or want to buy a PS4 just to play it. After the game was announced, Team NINJA specifically said that they would consider a "different version" of the game for Europe and North America thanks to social justice warriors. We have seen press from people interested in buying the rights to publish, tons of publicity from game journalist conglomerates and pre-orders sore on Play Asia to the point where they lowered the cost of the game. Still we hear next to nothing from Team NINJA despite the demand. Why, you ask? Because they could be strategically pulling back to drive up sales for the Japanese release. A lot of people are going to pre-order and purchase the game now not living in Japan -- so why ruin all of those nearly guaranteed sales? They are most likely going to wait until the game releases in Japan before they say ANYTHING more about DOAX3 being released Internationally. It's hard to currently recommend DOAX3 to players expecting a lot of gameplay from it. DOAX2 gave you a better arrangement of sports such as alternative to "Wave Race" with a beautiful jet-ski game that demonstrated Itagaki's impeccable commitment to his work. It didn't matter the game -- from Itagaki the quality was always high. Not too bash any of the hard workers at Team NINJA, but the replay value doesn't look high for DOAX3 at the moment. There is a big focus on leveling up the characters to accept better gifts, and that's cool -- but if you want more competitive games (many did in the request forum) it's looking pretty bleak unless you want the light-hearted games such as the rock-climbing and the pool hopping. This game could quite possibly have less value than previous entries. They aren't showing much, to prove that theory wrong -- and it seems like they would have already since the game is only a few months from release in a fairly short development period. But for those looking forward to a new Zack Island experience, I guess it wouldn't be a complete loss. And who knows, maybe they will eventually release the game worldwide... and maybe "our version" will provide more of what some of you actually want.

Great fun - but not for die-hard gamers.
This game was never intended for die-hard gamers. It's a fun novelty game which fulfils it's purpose beautifully. It will probably horrify feminists, but it really is just a bit of fun. The graphics are excellent, with lots of attractive scantily-clad women playing lightweight arcade games such as 'butt-battle', where the protagonists vie to knock each other off a platform floating in a swimming pool by 'bashing butts'. If you accept this title for the simplistic lightweight eye-candy that it is, then you'll have a lot of fun. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Fortune does not take itself seriously, and neither should you. All in all, a great fun title.

Everything you'd expect from a DoA Volleyball game
Unfortunately that's as many bad things as good things. You can always count on Tecmo to hold back content so they can overcharge you for it later as paid DLC. You can also count on Tecmo to make collecting outfits to be a ridiculous chore, so they can tempt players with heinously expensive pay2win options. Fortunately you can also count on Team Ninja to wow us with gorgeous graphics, innovative ways to perv on their female characters, and an almost endless amount of unlockables to make the game feel infinitely playable. Shame there's no Tina, Mila, or Lisa, but we can expect them to be added as paid DLC at some point. Also, it would be so nice to hear Tina's Southern and Helena's French accents.

Doa for the vita, anygood?
In short, this version for the vita is not bad!.. Does it compare to the beefy ps4 one? Well gameplay, it's almost the same, but graphics are a bit more limited and the game looks like it could use a little work or maybe they did the best they could with the vita capabilities. So overall I think it's great, The game is plays just as you hope, it runs smooth, load times are low, voice acting and such are good. The cons: the graphics aren't as good as the ps4 but that's expected. Much like the other doa x, the games can feel short, but there is tons of replay value and... if you feel you aren't compelled by its graphics charm of jiggle.. At the very least, it's definitely a game worth having, just to say you have it ;-)

No access to DLC and bonus code not for US
The bonus content is why I paid $20 more for this version, thought it was included or worked somehow after reading reviews that most DLC in US was disabled. Well, the DLC bonus code is also disabled. You won't be getting any extras for this game. The vanilla swimsuits are very bland and not exciting. Wife loves to play it though, which is a plus. Game play is meh. Some corny snapshot opportunities in hotel room, nothing special. Do not pay more than $25 for this game.

What I imagined and more.
Let's start with the most important thing when it comes to buyers and sellers. This was delivered to me from another country faster then some things a few hundred miles away at the same shipping cost. Massive kudos for that. The quality of the product was exactly as described. Overall, the seller delivered on every single front. The game? It's hard to explain. It's pretty much everything you've seen on YouTube or heard described. I thought I was spending quite a bit of money for something that would get boring quickly. Buy some swimsuits, enjoy the jiggling and that would be the end. I couldn't have been more wrong. Every single one of the quests and mini-games are addicting. It's like Mario Party for adults.

DoA Extreme 3
It is fun to play because it goes beyond sensual in terms of graphics. I like getting new swim suits for my girls and giving gifts to other girls. The new owner mode makes the game fun with being able to take pictures of the girls from all different angles. Altogether a well made game with awesome graphics.

Make DO Extreme games free roam
A really good game but the ability to roam around freely on Sac Island what made the game a lot more enjoyable. Getting to actually see your character move around and go different places and meet the other girls in person and running into other girls and playing beach volleyball at other things with them with me a very welcome change.

Its ridiculous but really fun!
To start with the graphics are really good! Its crazy because i even noticed they sweat after playing volleyball or rock climbing. There are so many outfits to collect and girls to play as and you do get several activities. I do wish they had more activities however there are enough to keep you busy for a while if you like to level up your characters for more outfits and special items like pose cards and body modification products. I am really happy that the entire game is in english even tho its a japanese cartridge so if you have an american nintendo switch you can simply pop it in and play!

It was awesome and met my expectations
The game play is fun, the system has plenty for you to do and keep yourself occupied with, and the graphics were excellent. (I'd imagine the ps version with better resolution and fps would be even better) I heard the loading screen time was a problem for the switch version but it didn't particularly upset me all that much. One thing I'd recommend is a greater selection of characters. All in all, great game.

Good Potential badly covered with a micro bikini
Good Volleyball and Party Games Mechanics, but the game revolves too much around sex appeal, plus the inclusion of microtransactions ruins game progressing. The graphics are very good for switch, but the game feels empty because it's tries too hard to be a dating sim when its not. Pros: Game Mechanics, Visual Detail Cons: Sexual Innuendos, Microtransactions
